Our Jones Act client Mr. Porter was working on board a large industrial fishing ship as a processor. At the time of the incident, a coworker of Mr. Porter was loading trays onto a conveyor belt when one hit his elbow hard. At the time, he did not feel anything, but later one of his coworkers pointed out that his elbow was out of place. It looked as if it had been dislocated. He was taken to the infirmary where he started to feel intense pain. While there, he was putting on a sling when he collapsed. He woke up in a pool of his own blood and had no idea what had happened.

Mr. Porter was flown off the ship by the coast guard and treated at a hospital in Arizona. There, he required surgery on his neck. He did not hesitate in reaching out to us and we immediately got to work on this case.

Despite a multitude of obstacles, the VB Team persevered and ultimately secured a favorable settlement for Mr. Porter. The whole team brought their A game for this case, however, we want to especially commend Roberta Taherivand and Lauren Birdsall for doing an exceptional job.
