Rick R., a seaman, was injured on October 15, 2017, when his supervisor ordered him to climb an unsecured ladder while he was working for Allied International. The ladder slipped and Rick injured his shoulder.

There were lots of complicating factors in this case. First, Allied International continued to pay Rick’s full salary for three years after the incident as well as all of his medical bills. Second, Rick made a full recovery and he was back to physical work after those three years. Third, Rick was only temporarily staffed onto a vessel to remove some hazardous waste, so his Jones Act status was an issue. Fourth, there was no available insurance coverage, this settlement is being fully funded by Allied directly.
