Patience, a nurse at LBJ hospital, was in her car when it was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler. The truck was driven by a trucker who was on the job with Sweet Express, LLC, at the time of the accident.Patience primarily hurt her back and neck, and had to take off a lot of time from her nursing job. She went to as much physical therapy as possible to try and fix her back without surgery or anything more invasive. After her doctors decided she’d done as much physical therapy as possible, she had some medical procedures on her neck and back to try and relieve her pain. Before attempting to settle the case, we wanted to wait and let Patience get all the medical care she needed. This is because it is never a good idea to settle a case before the injured person has substantially finished with their medical treatment.Once Patience was finished seeing her doctors, we worked up her case and worked with Sweet Express’s attorneys to settle the case. We were able to settle the case for $250,000 in less than one year from the date we were hired. Because of the facts of Patience’s case, we were in a fairly unique position in a personal injury lawsuit that allowed us to avoid taking any depositions or even involving a mediator, which saved Patience a substantial amount of case expenses.

$250,000 Settlement; attorneys’ fees were $112,500 and expenses were $94,947.99.
