A short trip interrupted by a truck

On April 1, 2020, Wendy was driving her Suburban to the store for ice. A truck ran a stop sign, forcing her into a collision with the rear portion of the truck.

The truck driver had dashcam video of the crash. But the footage did not end the dispute: the driver still argued that Wendy should have stopped sooner.

Neck surgery and a complicated medical history

The crash injured Wendy’s neck, back and knees. She underwent neck surgery that required incisions at both the front and back of her neck.

The case also involved a back injury that predated this crash. Her legal team had to address that medical history alongside the injuries from the truck collision. By the time the case resolved, Wendy’s condition was improving.

A federal lawsuit and disputed evidence

The lawsuit proceeded in federal court. The parties disputed discovery, and the judge held a pre-motion conference to address those disagreements.

The case required attention to both responsibility for the crash and its medical consequences. The dashcam footage, the driver’s argument about Wendy’s response and her prior back injury all formed part of that dispute.

A confidential settlement

Vuk mediated Wendy’s case and secured a confidential settlement. The agreement resolved her claim without a trial.
