An intersection collision in Houston
The ambulance driver was working for Enterprise Ambulance when the collision occurred. Steven’s pickup was broadsided as he traveled through the intersection.
His principal injury was to his lower back. The condition eventually required surgery.
The ambulance company disputed the traffic light
Steven hired VB Attorneys, and the firm filed suit in Harris County. The insurer’s lawyers argued that the ambulance had entered on a yellow light and that its driver was not at fault.
Vuk and the VB Attorneys team took depositions from the ambulance driver, the passenger riding in the ambulance and the investigating police officer. That testimony countered the yellow-light defense and supported Steven’s account of the collision.
His medical evidence answered a second defense
The defense also challenged the seriousness of Steven’s injuries. It retained an orthopedic doctor who characterized them as minimal.
Vuk and the VB Attorneys team addressed that argument through Steven’s medical records and his own doctors. Those sources documented the lower-back injury and the treatment that included surgery.
The litigation therefore addressed both the circumstances of the crash and its consequences for Steven, rather than accepting the insurer’s account of either.
A $500,000 settlement at mediation
The case resolved at mediation for $500,000. The settlement followed litigation in which Vuk and the VB Attorneys team used testimony about the collision and medical evidence concerning Steven’s injury to answer the defense’s central positions.
