One crash, two cases

A family’s vehicle was violently rear-ended by a company truck driven by an employee of a construction company. One of their children was killed. Another suffered catastrophic injuries.

Then the case turned into something almost no personal injury lawyer ever has to handle. The State charged the driver of the family’s own vehicle with felony manslaughter, and made a final pre-trial offer of seventeen years in prison.

A unanimous acquittal, then the civil case

As part of the work-up of the civil case, Vuk tried the criminal case and obtained a unanimous acquittal for the driver of the family’s vehicle.

The civil case then resolved. The defendants insisted the amount they paid be kept secret.

Every case is different. Prior results depend on the facts of the individual case and do not guarantee a similar outcome.
