The True Story Behind the Hijacking of the Maersk Alabama

This October, "Captain Phillips", starring Tom Hanks, was released in theatres nationwide. The movie tells the story of the 2009 hijacking of the Maersk Alabama. The movie, while based on a true story, does not truthfully depict what happened on the ship. The crewmembers and the U.S. Military are the real heroes, not Captain Richard Phillips.

Attorney Brian Beckcom and his team at VB Attorneys are working with 9 of the ship's crew members in a lawsuit to get answers to important, unanswered questions - did the shipping company, Maersk, have adequate security precautions in place? The shipping company Maersk allowed its crew members to get too close to the coast of Somalia, despite warnings to stay at least 600 nautical miles from the coast.

While the shipping company, Maersk, has significant commercial interest in making sure the movie version of the events that took place becomes the "official" version of what happened, VB Attorneys is committed to making sure that the true story of the brave crew memebers of the Maersk Alabama is heard.
