Inocencio had a plan for his life, and for thirty years, he stuck with it. He had left Mexico as a young man to explore the world. He became a longshoreman, working his way up the ranks of his union to become a highly respected supervisor. He and his crews would clean the holds of barges after they emptied their loads in ports around the world.
In 2013, Inocencio was sent to supervise the cleaning of a barge in Corpus Christi, Texas. While on the barge, Inocencio was crushed when the gantry crane was moved without warning. The crane crushed him between the leg of the crane and the wall of the hold. He suffered massive injuries and underwent major operations to fix the damage caused by the crane. In a coma for three months after the accident, Inocencio's future looked bleak. His plan to keep working as a longshoreman for a few more years and retire to work on his family's ranch would no longer be a reality. He faced a lifetime of medical care and would be dependent on his family for care for the rest of his life.
He hired Vuk and VB Attorneys to help pursue a claim against the company that owned the barge. Vuk was able to obtain a satisfactory settlement that would take care of Inocencio's lifetime medical needs. After the case settled, Inocencio sat down to talk about how we helped with his claim.
He says, "I got hurt on a barge. When I got hurt, Vuk, helped with my case. I am very grateful. He did a good job for me, along with his secretaries and everyone else."
