A Day in the Life of an Injured Longshoreman - Part One

Inocencio's life was turned upside down after he was badly injured when he was crushed by a gantry crane while supervising a cleaning crew on a barge.

We spent a day in his life to show you what survivors of catastrophic injuries go through each day. He says death would have been preferable to the pain he endures every day.

After months in a coma, multiple surgeries, and a painful recovery, Inocencio, once a very independent man who took pride in providing for his family, is now totally dependent on relatives to be his caregivers. Unable to walk far, drive, cook, or clean, he needs help to perform the basic things we take for granted. In constant pain, he is also reliant on his relatives to make sure he gets his daily doses of medicine and makes it to his doctor appointments.
