Portillo Jewelers store

A Texan has hired our firm to investigate who is responsible for the injuries she suffered in a fall at a Portillo Jewelers store in Harlingen, Texas in May 2016. A store employee was mopping in another part of the store and had not put up a caution sign in the part of the store our client was in. She was therefore unaware of the danger when she fell. The store manager called an ambulance, which transported her to the ER. She'd ruptured her hamstring in the fall, and it had come away from the bone entirely. She could not walk. She was in a great deal of pain.

At the time, she was living in Ohio and flew back home, where she had her leg operated on. She is still recovering from the incident, which has impacted her ability to do her job as a machinist. A lawsuit against Portillo Jewelers has been filed in Cameron County, Texas, District Court. It alleges that Portillo Jewelers was negligent because the store failed to maintain the floor in a reasonably safe condition, failed to give adequate and understandable warnings of the floor's condition, and failed to remove the liquid.
