Daniela Jones Our ReceptionistAnd now we need to find another A+ receptionist to (try to) fill her shoes.

Are you a people person? An extrovert who is itching for the chance to communicate with people every day? Do you want to work at a company where people are passionate about what they do?

Well, what are you waiting for? Come work with us!

We need a person who has a vibrant personality. You are the first person people talk to when they call us and the first person they see when they walk in the door. You set the tone for a person’s experience with our firm, so you need to be the type of person who greets everyone with a smile and kind words, no matter what may be happening personally. Someone for whom bad days don’t exist.

But, here’s the thing: You are going to be responsible for doing a LOT more than answering phones. You are going to helping the firm founders with all sorts of day to day tasks, you are going to help clients with parts of their cases, you are going to help with our marketing. You will be a “jack of all trades” and you’re going to have a lot of fun.

Our last receptionist learned so much she got accepted to law school.

We are a personal injury firm in Houston, Texas, that handles catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Because of the types of cases we handle, for many of our clients, this is the most traumatic event in their lives. Empathy and patience are two of the most important skill sets you need to succeed in this position.

We’d like it if you were a Spanish speaker, but that’s not required. Many of our clients speak Spanish, and in addition to communicating with them when they call, you may be asked to help translate, to help clients prepare for their depositions, and to help them if their case goes to trial.

Our business is booming. That being said, even if the phone is ringing off the hook you won’t be tethered to the desk by your phone cord. When not managing the phone calls, you are in charge of the office.

If that sentence sounded odd, it’s because our firm isn’t a typical firm. We work as a team, and we all wear many hats based on our talents. For this position, organizational and critical thinking skills are going to be a huge asset to you. One of the hats you’ll wear in this job is solving any problem that impacts the office. We believe this unique way of doing things helps us obtain the best results possible for our clients. What this means for you is that your job will never be boring.

Your job will include the following:

  • Answering the phones
  • Assisting with focus groups
  • Ensuring the office is in pristine condition and stocked with the necessities (coffee) to keep us running.
  • Assisting with case management - help with scheduling, drafting letters, document production - whatever needs to be done to keep the case on track
  • Assisting with client management - including tracking case assignments, contact information, gifts for clients, and client mailings.
  • Managing calendars, arrange travel
  • Managing firm and case expenses
  • Communicating with clients, prospective clients, defense attorneys, and courts
  • Using Mac computers

We work quickly. This means there’s no time to wait to be asked to do something. If you have initiative coming out your ears and the willingness to volunteer right away, this job is perfect for you.

Birthdays might be even more important than thank you gifts. We love birthdays at VB Attorneys, and it will be your job to make sure they’re celebrated.

On an equally serious note (we’re always serious about cake), as a team player, you may find yourself in charge of projects essential to marketing the firm, essential to winning cases, or essential to the running of the firm. If you are good at starting and then completing projects on your own, you will be a great fit for us.

Personal Injury cases can take years to resolve. In that time, our clients become like family. Many clients refer their family and friends to us any time they need legal help. We call this group of people our VIPs. We send our VIPs gifts several times a year to thank them for thinking of us. You will be in charge of the VIP program.

If you’re looking for a position where you won’t wake up dreading coming to work every day, instead you’d be able to wake up and be passionate about helping make a difference in people’s lives, this is it. If you want to work toward creating a better future for your clients, this is it.

If you’ve read this far and you’re still 100% on board, then keep reading.

To apply for this job, please email us a letter that explains why you’re the perfect person for the job. We do not want you to send us a resume. We want to get to know the real you, instead of reading bullet point lists about all the boring stuff other companies ask for. Tell us, in detail, what qualifies you for this job. Include your education and work background, but focus on what you think we need to know that makes you the only person we should hire. Email your letter to [email protected].
