While the events leading up to the accident are unclear, there are a few facts people who have been injured or who have lost loved ones in this accident need to know:
- An independent investigation needs to take place right away. While the scene of the accident will be cleared as soon as possible so traffic can resume on I-35, the vehicles and physical evidence involved in the accident need to be preserved so that they can be inspected by accident reconstruction experts and not be accidentally or purposely destroyed. Often, the only to have an independent investigation conducted right away and evidence preserved is to go through the court system using a lawyer.
- State and Federal investigations into major accidents such as this one take a very long time to conduct. You don't have that long to wait. Bills, expenses, costs of recovering from the accident are piling up and you can't afford to wait for a multi-year investigation to conclude. By that time, your chance to file a lawsuit against the at-fault parties might be over. You won't be able to file a claim with their insurance companies, and you'll be stuck trying to pay for all those expenses on your own. Find out how hiring a lawyer can help you protect your legal rights and get your accident-related expenses covered.
Accidents on this scale are hard to comprehend, but the longer you delay taking action, the more opportunities you're giving the parties who caused your injuries to chip away at your legal rights.
