From Super Lawyers to AVVO, you see the same shameless self-promotion on pretty much every lawyer's website.
Here’s the truth: most anyone can get these badges on their site if they pay for them.
The badges and awards don’t really mean you’re a better lawyer than lawyers who don’t have them on their site. They just mean you can afford to pay the fee to keep the badge on your site.
Texas Board of Legal Specialization
There are a select few badges and awards you only receive if you have a proven track record of success. The Board Certified badge is one of them. As we’ve discussed elsewhere on the site, fewer than 2% of all lawyers in the state of Texas have passed the test to be board certified in a specific area of the law. Three of our lawyers, Brian Beckcom, Vuk Vujasinovic, and Curtis Bickers, have not only passed the test to be Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, but they’ve all passed their recertifications. That means that they continue to meet the very high standards of the TBLS in their work as personal injury attorneys. Find out more about what board certification means for your case.
One of the other badges you have to earn are the custom AVVO badges - whether that’s a 10.0 “Superb” rating or a “Top Contributor” award. AVVO is one of the only legal websites that uses an independent rating system for attorneys. You can’t buy your way to a perfect 10.0 rating with AVVO, it’s based on your work history. They look at the cases you’ve won, your record with your State Bar Association, and what attorneys and clients have to say about you.
