Lena with her dog
Here is Lena taking one of her dogs, Oakley, for a walk near the Heights in Houston, TX. Lena loves her two dogs and probably spoils them too much.
Lena with Chase Myrick
This is Lena and Chase on the day he received his settlement for his injury case, which involved an 18-wheeler crashing into his family car on a Houston freeway. The 18-wheeler driver disappeared, and we discovered his fly-by-night trucking company wasn't following the law. Chase is happy with the results of his settlement.
Lena and her fiancee
In her free time, Lena loves to travel with her fiancee, Jess. This is a photo of them at a friend's wedding in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They also enjoy camping, kayaking, hiking, and biking.
Lena with David Kelley
This is Lena with her former client, David. David was severely injured after his employer company forced him to drive a hazmat 18-wheeler with a busted axle. The axle broke while he was driving on a highway in north Texas, causing the truck to flip off the road. We found out the company knew about repeated repairs to that very same axle. David's case was settled before arbitration.
Lena with Keith
Lena took Keith's case to trial after the Defendant refused to accept any responsibility for rear-ending him on the Houston 610 loop. He was called a liar for over two years. At trial, the jury unanimously sided with Keith. It took them less than an hour to come to their verdict. Keith was very happy with the results of his case.
Lena and her family
Lena is the first member of her (large) family to graduate from law school. Here she is on the day she graduated with some of her family, including her sister, mother, father, and one of her brothers. Lena graduated from South Texas College of Law Houston, which is nationally recognized as having one of the top advocacy programs in the country. She represented her school in multiple national advocacy tournaments across the county, and continues to advocate for our VB clients.
Lena Laurenzo is a native Houstonian and is the most recent addition to the VB Attorneys team. As a 2015 graduate of South Texas College of Law, Lena has undergone extensive advocacy training in order to become a trial lawyer.
Before joining VB Attorneys, Lena served as law clerk to Judge R. K. Sandill in the 127th District Court here in Houston, Texas. During her year at the courthouse, Lena was able to observe and assist Judge Sandill on numerous hearings, trials, jury selections, and depositions. Lena was able to have a first-hand look on what a personal injury case looks like behind the bench, giving her insight as the type of strategy and preparation a lawyer needs to have in the courtroom.
At South Texas College of Law, Lena was a varsity advocate and competed in numerous mock trials and moot court competitions. Lena received several awards, including an award as the Third Best Oral Advocate out of 70 advocates at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s National Moot Court Competition. Lena was also selected as the top trial advocate of her graduating class. Lena was inducted into the Order of Barristers, a national honorary society for those who demonstrate extraordinary advocacy skills. Lena currently coaches advocacy teams for her alma mater.
After graduating from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Lena’s first legal job was at a personal injury law firm in Houston, Texas. Lena worked at the firm for two years, giving her first hand experience in speaking with clients, handling case files, and learning everyday from experienced attorneys. It was during this time Lena learned that she was born to be an advocate for people who suffer harm at the fault of another.
Lena went through a life-changing experience right before her last year of college at Texas Tech. While driving home from work, a drunk driver smashed into Lena’s car in an almost head on collision. Lena’s car was totaled, she suffered neck and back injuries and couldn’t work. After two years of physical therapy and with the assistance of a lawyer, Lena was able to move on with her life. Talking about her experience, Lena says:
"There is no way I would have known what to do during that stressful time without the help of a lawyer. I know that I was lucky, but I can name too many people who did not fully recover after therapy. Worse, there are people who lose a loved one at the fault of someone else. There is someone new everyday who needs legal help because of a company not taking responsibility for employees injured on the job or a negligent driver who was not paying attention to the road.”
Lena wants to be there to help in any way because she believes everyone deserves to have the best counsel during difficult times.
Lena attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart for high school where she played volleyball, basketball, softball, and track and field. In 2010, Lena was named TAPPS District 3-6A Female Athlete of the Year during her senior year. At Texas Tech, Lena earned a degree in Psychology and graduated with honors. Lena was a research assistant in the Neuropsychiatric Clinic at the University Medical Center of Texas Tech University where she worked with a team collecting demographic information to potentially increase the background information doctors ask from their patients suffering from all stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
For the third year in a row, Lena will participate in the Houston Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida to help raise awareness and donations in honor of a close family member. In her free time, Lena enjoys playing golf, traveling and barbequing for her family.
