This morning, the Port of Houston was at a silence after one of their workers accidentaly died in an industrial mishap in the Barbours Cut Container Terminal on East Barbours Cut Boulevard in Morgan’s Point, TX.

The unidentified worker was hit by a crane, which severed both of his legs. He was taken to Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena where he was pronounced dead from the injury.

Investigators are trying to figure out why the wrongful death occurred. Certain facts about who was behind the crane and why the victim was in its path is not known at this time, but workers who operate heavy cranes are told to be aware of workers walking below, especially at night.

The worker was a member of the International Longshoremen's Association union, which seems likely to be a heavy voice as the investigation grows.

Whether this tragedy was an unavoidable work accident or if it is another case of not following proper safety protocols, work deaths happen every day due to negligence.
