Braxton Smith

Braxton graduated Magna Cum Laude from South Texas College of Law in downtown Houston, Texas after receiving his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in political science.

During his collegiate years, Braxton played for the back to back state championship Texas State rugby team and remains an active member of the TXST Rugby Alumni Foundation. Braxton was also a founding member of the San Marcos Greys who recently went to the National Semi-Finals, an amazing feat for a team just five years old at the time. Continuing his passion for the sport, Braxton remains active in the local rugby community with the Space City RFC.

Prior to law school, Braxton held various sales and management positions in the oil and gas and construction industries. Braxton worked in the Eagle Ford Shale until the 2016 oil crash and after the crash, he worked his way up the ladder of high-end custom homes and remodeling. Braxton’s keen insight into the oil and gas sector and practical knowledge of the work involved makes him an exceptionally capable attorney when representing injured oil riggers and refinery workers.

While in law school, Braxton sought out many opportunities to study the diverse aspects of the law by working for judges in the Houston area and Harris County District Attorney. Braxton’s tenacity and intuition for the law made him an exceptional candidate for judicial internships. His acuity landed him internships with Honorable Judge Jeff Bohm at the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Texas and Honorable Justice J. Brett Busby then of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, now on the Supreme Court of Texas.

Outside of the office Braxton takes every chance to enjoy the open air, whether it’s riding his motorcycle through the Sam Houston National Forest, tubing one of the many beautiful rivers in Texas, or joining some friends on a hunt. As a seventh-generation Texan Braxton is proud of the strong heritage of Texas as a mecca for those who want to work hard and better their communities.
