Have you suffered medical complications from a defective Wright Medical hip implant? Our attorneys will provide you with free information and a no-cost case analysis.
Numerous lawsuits have been filed against Wright Medical Technologies alleging that the Profemur hip replacement device is defective and dangerous to the health of patients. In fact, our Houston law firm recently filed a case on behalf of a man whose Profemur hip implant failed, causing serious medical complications.
Why Are These Hip Implants Defective?

According to many sources, the Wright Profemur Total Hip System was approved by the FDA using the 510(k) approval process. The 510(k) approval process allows a product to reach the marketplace without the usual meticulous testing if a substantially equivalent product is on the market.
The device was intended to be a minimally invasive hip replacement. Instead of using fixed neck lengths, Wright Medical's device uses interchangeable titanium necks. This design was supposed to equalize leg length and make the recovery period quicker.
Wright Medical obtained a patent on the modular neck portions, which requires showing that the concept was "novel." Even though Wright Medical patented the technology, it convinced the FDA to allow it to use the 510(k) "loophole," which circumvents the usual clincial testing requirements. Wright apparently convinced the FDA that its Profemur hip replacement technology was "substantially similar" to other devices on the market.
What Problems Are Caused By The Profemur Hip Replacement Device? The United States does not have an artificial joint registry. It was the Australian Joint Registry that discovered that the hip replacement device was failing at a rate of 11.2% after three years. If the device fails, then painful revision procedures are required.
Strangely, the FDA has yet to mandate a recall of the device, even though other devices with lower failure rates have been recalled.
How Do I Know If I Have A Case? If you've had the Wright Profemur hip replacement device implanted and it failed, then you may have a case. Developing a case against a medical manfacturer can be complicated and time-consuming, so make sure you verify with your doctor it's actually a Wright Profemur hip and ask your doctor if he or she can tell you why it failed.
Once you've verified that information, and if you're considering legal action, you need to gather together your medical records and contact an attorney. We strongly suggest you consider talking to an attorney with proven experience handling defective product cases.
At our firm, we understand that people often don't have the financial means to pay a lawyer to review a case. Our Houston defective hip implant lawyers offer a free intial case evaluation. During that time, we'll interview you, gather together your medical records, and then have the record analyzed by an expert. That will allow us to prove your case.
After we've thoroughly reviewed the information, we'll let you know whether we think you have a legitimate defective hip replacement lawsuit or not. We'll also let you know whether we can accept your case. If we accept your case, we will work on a "contingency fee" contract, which means you pay us nothing unless we win your case.
