Baytown resident Dwayne Bobb is seeking over half a million dollars from BP oil company for injuries he sustained in a Texas City car accident last year.
Bobb was in the passenger’s seat of a truck parked at BP’s Texas City refinery on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 when the truck was rear-ended by a BP employee. Bobb received treatment at the refinery’s medical facility, where the doctor told him he would be fit to work in 48 hours.
But when Bobb attempted to go back to work, he “was unable to perform his job duties due to the pain,” according to the lawsuit.
Bobb got a second opinion on his injury; this time, the doctor attested that Bobb had suffered a sprain in his back and a serious neck injury. Over the next few months, he was treated for these conditions at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital and Baytown Back Pain and Health Center.
The lawsuit aims at recompense for Bobb’s injuries, medical bills, lost wages, and court costs by stating that BP is liable for the actions of its employee.
Bobb’s lawsuit was filed with the 405th Galveston County District Court on November 14.
