Texas authorities believe that a failure to yield was to blame for a two-vehicle accident in Montgomery County that left two people dead and three people seriously injured.
According to local Houston news stations, a minivan carrying four people was stopped at the intersection of Texas 105 East and Fostoria Road before proceeding. However, the driver of the van failed to see an approaching truck on Texas 105 and crossed its right-of-way. The minivan was t-boned by the truck, which was towing a trailer.
The driver, 34-year-old Juan Gante, and one of the passengers, 38-year-old Maria Gomez of Houston, were killed in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Two more people in the minivan, 34-year-old Marisela Gomez and 3-year-old Monica Gomez were seriously injured, as was the driver of the pickup truck, 67-year-old Richard Johnson.
All three Texas car accident injury victims were flown by medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center for treatment. All three suffered from broken bones and internal injuries; the toddler was also diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.
Police say that everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt, while the three-year-old girl was properly restrained in a child safety seat.
The Texas traffic accident attorneys at Vujasinovic & Beckcom send their deepest condolences to the accident victims as well as their families, friends, and loved ones.
