Three Texas Oilfield Workers Killed in Tilden Car Accident

Posted on Nov 29, 2011

The Texas Department of Public Safety believes that a driver who fell asleep at the wheel may have caused a two-car accident in Tilden, Texas that killed three oilfield workers.

According to San Antonio news sources, 27-year-old Juaquin Mireles-Munoz of Edinburg, 61-year-old Rogelio Banda Cabrera of Mercedes, and 58-year-old Juan Everardo Garcia of Hidalgo were traveling in two pickup trucks on Texas 72 in McMullen County on Monday morning. Driver Mireles-Munoz likely fell asleep on the rural two-lane highway and drifted out of his lane. He drove into the path of a truck carrying the other two men, causing the crash. All three men were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

It is not known whether the workers were on their way to work or on the job at the time of the fatal Texas car accident.

This is the third fatal car wreck on Texas 72 in just two weeks – not to mention the third fatal wreck involving oilfield workers. This is a concerning fact for both the oilfield industry as well as local residents who wonder if these workers are making their rural roads a less safe place to drive.

The Texas work accident attorneys at Vujasinovic & Beckcom send their condolences to the friends, colleagues, and relatives of the three men killed in the crash.
