An Ingleside motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in Rockport last weekend after a car allegedly pull out in front of the biker.
According to the Rockport Pilot, 25-year-old Oscar Russell Winn, known as Trey to friends and family, was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on the Highway 35 bypass at just after 7 a.m. on Friday morning when the collision took place. A sedan, driven by 52-year-old Betty Anthony, stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 35 and Corpus Christi Street. She then pulled out into the road and into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.
Winn struck the passenger side door of Anthony’s car and died upon impact. Emergency crews arrived at the scene where Winn was pronounced dead and Anthony was cited for failure to yield. She was not injured in the Rockport motorcycle accident. The road was closed for several hours.
Accidents in which a driver fails to see a motorcycle rider and pulls into his path are one of the most common types of motorbike collisions – and also one of the most deadly.
