Texas City Man Charged After Fatal Galveston Pedestrian Accident

Posted on Oct 18, 2011

A Texas City man allegedly struck two pedestrians on the Galveston seawall before running his car onto the beach early on Saturday morning.

According to the Galveston County Daily News, 29-year-old Felix Garza was driving near the wall at around one in the morning on Saturday when he allegedly struck two pedestrians walking along the wall. He then struck the wall itself. While Garza was not injured in the Galveston car accident, one pedestrian was killed and another was seriously injured. The Houston Chronicle reported that a 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place in the 5400 block of the street, while a 36-year-old Texas man was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

Garza, who has a history of drunk driving charges and convictions, refused to participate in a field sobriety test. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated for the third time or more, manslaughter, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The fatal Texas pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local police.

The Houston personal injury attorneys at Vujasinovic & Beckcom send their sincere sympathies to the victims of this tragic accident, as well as to their friends and family.
