Palmer Highway car wreck in Texas City leads to lawsuit

Posted on Feb 21, 2011

A lawsuit recently filed in Galveston County District Court accuses a driver of failing to yield the right of way in a wreck that led to bodily injury and property damages.  The accident happened two years ago, when according to the suit driver Marsha Carter Worley failed to yield the right of way on the 2800 block of Palmer Highway.

As a result, Worley crashed into plaintiff Rebecca Annette Garcia’s 2007 Honda Accord, which at the time was traveling eastbound in the far right lane of Palmer Highway.  Worley’s 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided with the Honda when Worley tried to cross multiple traffic lanes to get to Palmer Highway from Palmer Plaza.

The lawsuit claims that Worley suddenly and without warning accelerated to turn left in order to go westbound on Palmer Highway, right into oncoming traffic.  It goes on to state that Garcia applied her brakes in order to avoid a collision, but was unsuccessful.

In the suit Garcia seeks compensation for her injuries and property damage as a result of the Texas City crash.  She requests a jury trial and about $100,000 in damages from Worley and her insurance company, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company.
