Two recent motorcycle wrecks in the Houston area have left one person dead and another injured. The fatal accident happened at 3800 Broadway underneath the Gulf Freeway, and involved a tractor trailer pulling a shipping container and a motorcycle.
According to the Houston Police Department, the motorcycle rider came up behind the large truck, which was either stopped or traveling slowly. The motorcycle rider lost control, laid his bike on its side, and slid underneath the truck. He may have survived, had the truck not run over the rider and killed him.
The victim's identity has yet to be released; he was believed to be in his 20s or 30s.
The second accident involved a police officer in Dickinson, who was hurt when he crashed his motorcycle into another vehicle. The office, David Donaldson, was heading east on FM 517 when he crashed into a car on Pabst Road. According to Dickinson police, Donaldson locked his brakes while trying to avoid the car. This caused him to be thrown onto the road where he sustained injuries.
League City police assisted with the accident, and the Donaldson was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The current status of his injuries is unknown, although he did lose consciousness in the crash so he may have sustained some kind of brain injury.
