Police are investigating a car accident in Spring after a 49-year-old mother was apparently run over by her own vehicle.
The accident took place at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9 on Madelin Manor near Riley Fuzzel Road in Montgomery County.
Police believe that the mother, whose name has not yet been released, was sitting behind the wheel in her van waiting to take her son to school. According to a friend of the family, the woman’s son heard a loud bang and went outside to see what had happened.
He found his mother lying in the roadway, and the family van had struck a fire hydrant about 30 feet away. His mother had been injured and was unconscious.
Emergency responders arrived a short time later and attempted to revive the woman with CPR. They were unable to get a response, and she was pronounced dead. Grieving friends and neighbors gathered around the woman’s house as investigators evaluated the accident scene.
Responding to questions as to whether the woman had been suffering from a medical condition at the time of the accident, Erik Burse of the Texas Department of Public Safety insists that DPS is investigating the crash site to determine if and how the woman was run over.
“The death scene is being investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Right now, everything is still pending. We don’t want to come to any conclusions. We want to make sure that we have all of our t’s crossed and our i’s dotted,” Burse said.
