Houston driver endangers police, pedestrians prior to arrest

Posted on Feb 28, 2011

A Honda Accord driver has been arrested after a police chase that involved gunfire and endangered children and pedestrians.  The driver, who has not been identified, led Houston police on a 20 minute long police chase through northwest Harris County.

The chase started when a state trooper attempted to pull the man over for a traffic violation.  Instead of stopping, he sped off, driving fast through a parking lot full of young school children.  After leaving the parking lot he became caught in traffic.

Houston Speeding Accident Lawyer discusses the dangers of driving too fast.

In an attempt to get the suspect to stop, the state trooper pulled his gun and shot the back left tire of the Honda three times.  The Honda driver did not stop even with the flat tire, and he sped on, chased by 24 police officers.

Law enforcement officers were eventually able to catch up with the man when he sped into a Walmart parking lot and crashed into a tree.  When he pulled into the parking lot, he nearly hit pedestrian Pamela Menard.  Police troopers were able to apprehend the man, who did not appear to be injured.
