Dallas Worker Crushed By Bakery Machinery In Texas Factory

Posted on Aug 22, 2011

A Texas industrial worker was killed in an on-the-job accident at a Dallas bakery early on Tuesday morning. According to the Associated Press and The Dallas Morning News, an as-of-yet unidentified man in his 50s was pulled from a piece of heavy machinery at the CSM Bakery Products factory in northeast Dallas in the early hours of the day.

A Dallas Fire-Rescue official said that it appeared as if the man had somehow fallen onto the conveyor belt and was crushed by the machine. Emergency responders rushed the man by ambulance to Baylor University Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead from his injuries not long after arrival.

It is not clear if CSM Bakery Products, which makes baked goods and foods for grocery stores and restaurants, has a history of on-the-job accidents, worker injuries, or employee fatalities. The fatal worker accident will be investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and by local police – both of whom will look for safety violations and other issues at the fatory. The bakery has not yet released a statement about the industrial accident and it is not known whether they will also independently investigate the death.
