Conroe Man Seriously Injured in Texas Truck Accident on US-59

Posted on Oct 31, 2011

One man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on a Texas bridge this week. While the big rig driver involved in the wreck has been cited for failing to slow with traffic, the Texas truck accident remains under investigation.

The Humble truck accident took place on US-59 on the San Jacinto River Bridge on Monday afternoon. Truck driver Rigoberto Melandez told police that he didn't know what happened except that traffic on the bridge suddenly slowed and that he was unable to stop his 18-wheeler in time. It struck a pickup truck in the rear, which in turn hit the van in front of it.

The van driver and his passengers were unhurt, as were the big rig driver and three people in the pickup truck. However, a man in the bed of the pickup truck, 38-year old Luis Pablo Lopez of Conroe, was ejected from the vehicle on impact and almost flew off of the bridge. Although he was rushed to a local hospital by medical helicopter, he is in serious but stable condition and expected to recover.

The Texas big rig accident caused backups on the Humble bridge for several hours as the crash scene was investigated and cleared.

The Humble personal injury attorneys at Vujasinovic & Beckcom wish the accident victim in this case a fast and full recovery.
