Beckcom files lawsuit against American Commercial Lines (ACL) on behalf of injured deckhand

A deckhand who was injured on the job working for American Commercial Lines (ACL) has hired firm co-founder and Jones Act attorney Brian Beckcom to prosecute his claims against the company.

The deckhand claims he injured his back due to a combination of line handling activities and lifting activities.  According to the lawsuit, the deckhand suffered herniated discs in his low back that may require surgery.  ACL denies the allegations.

Because the deckhand was injured on the job on a vessel, his legal claims fall under the Jones Act, a federal law designed to protect injured seamen and sailors who are hurt on the job.
