Houston Untrained Trucker Lawyer explains what trucking companies must do to train their drivers or confirm they have received the proper training.

What type of training are truck drivers supposed to have?

As part of the process to make sure their truckers are qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle (Part 391 of the trucking regulations), trucking companies must make sure their truck drivers have received the proper training to safely operate this type of equipment.

The trucking company must administer a Road Test. The rules for this are in Part 391.31 of the trucking regulations.

If the driver will be driving extra big trucks, like "Longer Combination Vehicles," he or she must receive the "Special Training" outlined in Part 380 of the trucking regulations.

Additional training requirements are contained throughout the trucking regulations.

How do untrained truckers cause accidents?

If a truck driver has not received the proper training, he or she will not have the knowledge necessary to safely operate a large truck like an 18 wheeler. The trucking regulations contain many training requirements, and the purpose of these rules are to make sure truckers know how to drive safely. If truck drivers do not have this training, they will not have this knowledge, and they will be more likely to cause accidents.

If you have any questions about trucker training requirements, please contact us and our Houston Untrained Truck Driver Lawyers and Houston Truck Accident Attorneys will help you.
