Worried about how your medical bills will get paid by the insurance for the person who caused your car accident?

Many people who have been injured in a car accident caused by someone else want to know how the process works in terms of the other driver's insurance paying for their medical bills.

Unfortunately, this can be a very difficult process. In my experience handling auto accident cases in Houston, I have NEVER seen an insurance company pay someone's medical bills as they receive their treatment. Instead, what I see is this: the insurance company wants to wait until you are finished seeing doctors, and then make you a global offer of money to settle your claim.

I know this is difficult on you, because you may need the money to pay your doctors as you are seeing them. In fact, the insurance company knows this, and that's why they use this tactic -- they hope you give up and stop seeing doctors, so they will have to pay less for your medical bills.

If you want to test this theory, try this: make a copy of all of your medical records and doctor's bills, and send them to the insurance adjuster, with a letter asking that they take care of all of those bills.

It is extremely likely the insurance company will not pay your bills. They want to make one payment, one time, to take care of ALL of your claims (in addition to medical bills, you may have lost wages, physical impairment, pain, disfigurement, etc.).

After you have tested this process for yourself, you will see how it works. The insurance company will do everything in its power to delay your claim. They will tell you to sign this, sign that, send us this and that, etc. It's a never-ending wall of delay.

At that point, you should definitely consider speaking with a qualified car accident lawyer in Houston, or wherever you live. We encourage everyone to speak to lawyers who are Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law.

With a lawyer assisting you, you should be able to complete your medical treatment, and at the end of your case, your lawyer should be able to negotiate a global settlement for you that covers all of your claims.
