No! Think about it – why would the bus company want to record what you tell them right after a crash? To cover their behinds, that’s why! They are hoping that you will say something that can be used against you later if you push back at the measly settlement they offer you (and trust us, it will be measly).
No matter what nice things the bus company says to you or how helpful you are feeling, just don’t give a recorded statement. You don’t know how wily bus company lawyers can be, how they can twist your words and use them against you. In fact, if you mess up you might end up with NO settlement at all because of something you said, even if you deserve a good bit of compensation.
Even if you think that you can get on record the facts of the case because it is clear to you that the driver or the company was negligent, don’t do it. If you say something damning about the accident, the bus company will just ‘lose’ or ‘misplace’ your statement, and it will never be seen again – and they’ll work hard to discount what you told them.
Confused and not sure what to do after a crash? Call us. We’ll talk things over for no cost or obligation.
