We designed this website to provide information to consumers, injured people, and their families. Our goal is to level the playing field between consumers and insurance companies and expose the tricks, traps, and techniques they use to cheat injured people out of their legal rights. We also let consumers know about legal news, including verdicts and settlements and other interesting legal information.
But please understand that nothing on this website is meant to provide legal information about your specific case, create an attorney-client relationship, or imply that the results of your legal case will be the same as some other case.
Q: My company wants me to return to work after my on the job injury, but I don't feel ready. What do I do?
A: When it comes to medical issues, listen to your doctors -- not to your company. If your doctors tell you not to work due to your injuries, then do not work. Tell your boss that your doctors are restricting you from working, and show him an off-work slip from your doctor if necessary. Companies are not allowed to push their workers to return to work prematurely after a work injury.
On the other hand, if your doctors have released you to work, then you should return to work.
If your doctors release you to work on a light duty or other restricted status, then ask your company if they have a position available that fits your restrictions.
The bottom line is that you should follow the recommendations of your doctors, whether your boss likes them or not. If your company has workers compensation insurance, as most employers do, you should be receiving workers compensation benefits.
