Many times, companies ask accident victims to "sign some forms," acting like it is no big deal, just "a matter of procedure." However, if you don't know what you are signing, you could be doing yourself some real damage. You may sign away your legal rights completely, or severely limit them.

The prudent thing to do is have a lawyer review any papers for you, BEFORE YOU SIGN THEM. Many times, we have been approached by accident victims who were taken in by an insurance adjuster's "friendly attitude," only to find out they signed away their case. The worst part about this is that once you sign away your case, you almost never have any recourse.

So do the smart thing -- talk to a lawyer before you sign anything at all related to your accident. If it turns out that signing the forms will do you no harm and advance your claim, at least you will have the peace of mind knowing you are not throwing your case away.
