Passenger in car that hits parked 18 wheeler obtains settlement

Pablo was a passenger in a car driven by his friend northbound on I-45 near the Woodlands, Texas, in the early morning hours. The car left the roadway and entered the shoulder, and hit an 18 wheeler that was parked on the shoulder. Pablo suffered catastrophic injuries, including a mild brain injury and vision problems. The parked 18 wheeler was under the control of Reyno Leal, doing business as Leal Trucking.

Pablo hired Vujasinovic & Beckcom to pursue a case against the 18 wheeler company. V&B obtained documents and testimony proving that the truck driver had left the 18 wheeler in a dangerous area on the shoulder, and that he should have had the 18 wheeler removed by a towing service long before this accident happened. V&B further proved that Leal Trucking did not follow many rules in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations concerning truck maintenance and safety precautions truckers must take when parking their 18 wheelers on the shoulder.

Leal Trucking only had insurance in the amount of $1,022,510. However, V&B was successful in recovering this entire amount for Pablo's case.

Result: $1,022,510
