Worker Suffers Severe Burns When His Company Breaches Safety Codes

An Englishman named Asim Qureshi was employed by JVM Castings Ltd, an aluminum casting firm, when he suffered severe burns to his leg, right arm, shoulder, and face after molten metal suddenly sprayed out from the back of the machine he was working on.

His burns were so severe that he was unable to work for two months after the accident. Today, his hands and legs are still scared. Molten metal can reach temperatures of 650 degrees Celsius which completely burned through Qureshi’s clothes.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in England has prosecuted JVM Castings Ltd on Qureshi’s behalf. HSE’s investigation revealed that the back of the machine was not guarded and the employees’ clothing and eye protection were unsuitable.

JVM Castings Ltd was fined 6,000 pounds and ordered to pay court costs after they admitted a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act, following the prosecution.

Many companies such as these fail to uphold health and safety codes, unbeknownst to their employees. If you have been a victim of a work accident or a victim of a burn injury, the experienced lawyers at V&B want to give you valuable information regarding your situation.
