Worker dies in fall at LyondellBasell refinery in Houston, same refinery where one of the largest cranes in the world collapsed in summer 2008

Media reports indicate a plant worker fell at the LyondellBasell oil refinery plant in Houston two days ago, sustaining fatal injuries.  OSHA is investigating.

Information as to the cause of the fall will likely surface during the OSHA investigation.  OSHA investigators will likely determine which company or companies contributed to cause the fall.  Liability for the incident will depend in large part on how the companies set up their work contacts and workers compensation plan.

The LyondellBasell refinery is where one of the largest cranes in the world collapsed in the summer of 2008, causing several fatalities and numerous injuries.  Lawsuits related to that crane collapse remain pending while lawyers continue to develop those cases.
