When negligence kills: fatal La Porte car crash takes 3 lives

This is a terrible case where three lives were lost in La Porte TX because one driver was not paying attention – a truly tragic case of wrongful death.

The fatal accident happened in La Porte, an industrial suburb located about 22 miles east of Houston.  Police believe that a man, Shane McGovern, 29, failed to stop at a stop sign at a La Porte intersection, and broadsided a car.

The driver who failed to stop lost his life in the wreck after being airlifted to the local hospital, so it is not known why he sped through the stop sign.

The driver of the other car, Rebecca Doiron, 18, and her passenger Johnna Davis, 21, are both dead as a result of the crash.  Doiron died at the scene of the accident while Davis was also airlifted to the hospital where like McGovern she died of her injuries.

A baby was also riding in Doiron’s vehicle, and the infant sustained a head injury in the crash.  The identity of the child has not been released, and his or her medical status is unknown.  The crash is still under investigation.
