A maintenance mechanic was working on some industrial pipe which was connected to a compressor. The pipe and compressor were provided and installed by Ingersoll Rand. The worker was seriously injured when the pipe exploded in her face.
The injured worker has hired Vujasinovic & Beckcom.
The worker is receiving workers compensation benefits, because her employer had workers compensation insurance. Because this insurance is in place, she would not be permitted to bring a lawsuit against her employer (assuming her employer had any liability in the first place).
The investigation thus far is pointing to an improper installation and possible defective equipment provided by Ingersoll Rand. If Ingersoll Rand has liability for this industrial accident, then the company is liable to the worker for her injuries and damages. This type of case is called a "third party case." For a further explantion of "third party" cases, please review this V&B Library Article.
This industrial injury case remains pending.
