On July 18, 2008, the world's largest crane collapsed at a refinery plant in Houston, Texas. The refinery was owned and operated by LyondellBasell. The crane was owned and operated by Deep South Crane and Rigging Company. Four workers were killed, and many, many others were injured.
Vujasinovic & Beckcom lawyers represent many of the workers who were injured in this crane collapse, and have filed a lawsuit on their behalf.
The lawsuits were filed in Jefferson County, Texas, where some of the defendant companies have based their operations. The companies tried to move the case to a venue they felt would have been more favorable to them. However, after much briefing and arguments to the Court, the Court denied the companies' motion.
Much work has been conducted pertaining to how and why the crane collapsed. Recently, Deep South admitted in official court papers that its negligence was a cause of the crane to fall.
However, many of the injured workers have alleged that the company was grossly negligent, thus work on the liability issue continues.
V&B lawyers are continuing to work up this case against Deep South and the other corporate defendants.
