DATE OF TOYOTA RECALL INCIDENT: March 8, 2010
TOYOTA VEHICLE INVOLVED: 2008 Prius
LOCATION OF ACCIDENT: San Diego County, California
DESCRIPTION OF TOYOTA ACCIDENT: Driver James Sikes, 61, was driving his 2008 Toyota Prius on a San Diego County freeway when it uncontrollably accelerated to over 90 miles per hour. Amazingly, a California Highway Patrol officer was able to assist Mr. Sikes in bringing the vehicle to a stop.
Toyota and U.S. safety officials are already investigating this incident.
If Toyota's prior investigations are any indication, Toyota will treat its "investigation" primarily as a public relations campaign and downplay any safety issues relating to its vehicle.
