TOYOTA RECALL INCIDENT -- March 8, 2010 -- San Diego County, California

DATE OF TOYOTA RECALL INCIDENT:  March 8, 2010

TOYOTA VEHICLE INVOLVED:  2008 Prius

LOCATION OF ACCIDENT:  San Diego County, California

DESCRIPTION OF TOYOTA ACCIDENT:

Driver James Sikes, 61, was driving his 2008 Toyota Prius on a San Diego County freeway when it uncontrollably accelerated to over 90 miles per hour.  Amazingly, a California Highway Patrol officer was able to assist Mr. Sikes in bringing the vehicle to a stop.

Toyota and U.S. safety officials are already investigating this incident.

If Toyota's prior investigations are any indication, Toyota will treat its "investigation" primarily as a public relations campaign and downplay any safety issues relating to its vehicle.
