Several days after the
South Texas swimming accident took place, the Coast Guard has recovered the third and final body of the drowning victims, which was found in the Gulf of South Padre Island.
According to local news sources and Cameron County authorities, three male relatives visited a South Padre Island beach on Wednesday but did not return. The body of 22-year-old Ivan Bolado was found hours after police believe the beach accident took place among the island’s jetties. Bolado’s cousin, and 18-year-old male, was found a few days later. Finally, the 18-year-old’s younger brother, a 12-year-old boy, was found on Sunday morning. The family of the youngest boy will view and identify the body this week.
Especially with summer approaching, the number of
water accidents, swimming accidents, and drowning accidents will rise throughout the state of Texas. It is very important to educate your children and teens about the hazards of swimming, strong undertows, and the dangers of mixing alcohol and swimming. In addition, make certain that your own pool is fenced and secured – and that you supervise all children who swim on your property.
