A
Texas oil rig employee was killed by blunt force trauma in an on-the-job accident that took place in High Island on Monday night.
According to the
Galveston County Daily News, 56-year-old Ralph Hudspeth of College Station was killed while working to dismantle an oil rig in Southeast Texas about seventy miles outside of Houston. During the dismantling process, it seems that the worker was struck by a load of pipes – Hudspeth was standing by a forklift that was moving the pipes when the pipes shifted and fell from the heavy machinery onto the worker.
The worker was rushed from the small town on the Texas Gulf Coast to a Galveston medical center, where doctors pronounced him dead as a result of his injuries.
Working on oil rigs is one of the most dangerous and deadly jobs that you can hold in Texas – and accidents, injuries, and fatalities are far too common. While some oil rig accidents couldn’t have been prevented, others could have been caused by the negligence of the company, defective products, or other preventable issues. If you or a loved one has been injured in a oil rig accident in Texas, speak to an experienced and knowledgeable Houston attorney with a history of handling these complex legal cases.
