A recent fatal DUI accident involving a Texas driver is a sobering reminder of the dangers we all face out there on the Texas roads and highways. A La Porte man is facing charges ranging from vehicular homicide to involuntary manslaughter after police believe he caused a serious rollover crash.
In this situation, the person killed was not the driver or passenger of another vehicle. The victim, Brock Choate, 24, was thrown from the rolling SUV and was then run over by a tractor trailer. This is a terrible, tragic accident – but it also could have been avoided.
The driver, Shayne A. Breaux, 37 of La Porte, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.242 percent – well over the legal limit of 0.08 percent. If somebody had prevented Breaux from driving that night, the victim would still be alive.
