Texas Firefighter Loses Arm Thanksgiving Morning

On Thanksgiving morning, volunteer firefighter Kimberly Huckabee was backed over by an 18-Wheeler which caused her left arm to be amputated and a few fingers from her right hand chopped off.

Huckabee arrived on the scene to assist in directing traffic after an oil tank truck driver fell asleep at the wheel on SH 105, striking two culverts, causing the truck to explode.

Huckabee was directing traffic several miles away on SH 105 near Pinewood cut-off when the 18-wheeler tried to turn around, backing into her. The tanker carried 6,700 gallons of crude, which set fire and was allowed to burn while several firefighters stood by.

Huckabee still remains in the ICU of a Beaumont hospital. Her left arm was amputated, she received heavy head trauma, and doctors are attempting to reconnect several fingers from her right hand.

Family and Friends have since established an assistance fund at Community Bank where donations can be made to help Huckabee, who was also a Medic with Hardin County.

If you or anyone you know has been severely injured or killed by negligent tank drivers, contact the lawyers at V&B for free information and a free evaluation.
