Texas Family Sues for Wrongful Death After Reno Air Show Tragedy

Following the Reno air show tragedy that took place in September, the family of a Texas man has filed the first wrongful death lawsuit in connection with the plane crash.

According to local news sources, the family of Craig Salerno has filed a Texas wrongful death lawsuit against the Reno Air Racing Association. They stated that the crash was an avoidable accident caused by the negligence of the pilot, the crew, and the organization that put on the event. In addition, the family is suing a collection of mechanics and designers who altered the World War II plane in order to make it faster and more powerful.

The air show accident took place when an antique plane lost a trim tab or a piece of its tail during flight, causing the aircraft to suddenly dive into the stands filled with spectators. Ten people were killed in the crash and many more suffered an array of injuries. Salerno, a Houston employee of Continental Airlines and a father of two young children, was believed to have been killed instantly in the crash.

The Reno Air Racing Association did not comment on the wrongful death lawsuit, except to say that they expect other families and injury victims to file claims as well.
