The Houston Chronicle is reporting seven fatalities associated with several Houston car accidents over the past 24 hours. It appears that some of the accidents were caused by "racing." There is a car racing statute in Texas that imposes very stiff penalties for those convicted of racing on our public roadways.

Most of these auto accidents appear to have been preventable. It is difficult to understand how some people can put their lives, and the lives of others, at risk by this type of conduct.
