Post-"Fix" Toyota Recall complaints on the rise - now at 60

Today the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has received 60 complaints from consumers whose Toyotas were allegedly "fixed" after the recent floor entrapment and pedal recalls.  These consumers say their Toyotas experienced unintended acceleration even AFTER the Toyota was supposedly corrected of this problem.

Obviously, this is a huge problem.  This supports the thinking of many safety experts that the Toyota acceleration problem has nothing to do with the floor mats or pedals -- rather, it is a much deeper problem involving the electronics.

Toyota's current position benefits Toyota in the following sense:  if Toyota had to fix the electronics in all of the recalled Toyotas, rather than simply replacing the floor mats or adjusting the pedals, that would be a MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE "FIX."  Toyota is trying for the much cheaper fix by fixating on the mats and pedals.

Toyota's current reluctance to admit that the problem involves electronics will hurt the company in Toyota Recall Lawsuits.  This is simply more evidence that Toyota puts profits over safety.  And if any of the post-"fix" accidents result in deaths or serious injuries, those cases will be even stronger than the pre-"fix" accidents because those consumers can argue that Toyota put profits over safety TWICE.
