A left-turn accident in Orange County has left one man dead and two others with serious injuries.
The Texas car wreck occurred at six in the morning on Wednesday when a pickup truck on FM 1006 made a left turn onto Foreman Road near the Lanxess Plant. The truck’s passenger side was broadsided during the turn by a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction on FM 1006.
Both drivers of the pickup trucks, a 57-year-old Orange man, and a 46-year-old man from Port Arthur, suffered serious injuries: one has since been released from the hospital after treatment while the other remains hospitalized. The passenger of the truck that was not turning, 52-year-old Luis Magana Cardenas, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The fatal Orange County car accident is under investigation by authorities. At this time, it is not clear if the first pickup truck turned in front of the second pickup truck or if the second pickup truck was speeding or driving recklessly. Hopefully, more information regarding the accident will come to light as police review evidence.
Left turn car accidents and broadside accidents are some of the most common wrecks we see in Texas. What are the two best ways to prevent them? Always give yourself extra space when turning across oncoming traffic, and always drive the speed limit.
