One Worker Crushed, Two Others Injured During Building Collapse In Houston

While construction workers were conducting renovations to an old apartment complex, the building suddenly collapsed upon itself with five workers in harm's way on the first floor.  Two men were able to escape the building unassisted, two were injured and had to be pulled from the rubble, and one construction worker was crushed to death.  One of the injured workers was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.  The other injured worker was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he has been listed in stable condition.

The Houston Fire Department responded to the building collapse and helped to rescue the injured workers and recover the body of the crushed worker.  Dogs and remote cameras assisted rescue crews in their efforts to locate all of the construction workers.

At this time, it has not been determined who is responsible for the building's collapse and what measures should have been taken to prevent this accident.  Hopefully an investigation will answer the question of who is responsible for the death and injuries of the construction workers.
